e3 Diagnostics

During tympanometry, Audiologists use a machine called a tympanometer to evaluate middle ear function. Tympanometers measure the ear's response to changes in air pressure, producing a tympanogram—a visual representation of the middle ear's health. This information is crucial for diagnosing conditions related to hearing loss.

We offer a comprehensive range of tympanometers, from portable handheld models to feature-rich desktop systems, to meet the diverse needs of your practice. All our equipment comes from respected manufacturers like MAICO, Interacoustics, Amplivox, and Grason-Stadler, ensuring accuracy and reliability. • A tympanometer is a medical device used by audiologists and other healthcare professionals to evaluate the function of the middle ear. It primarily assesses the mobility of the eardrum (tympanic membrane) and the middle ear bones.
  • A tympanometer evaluates the function of the middle ear by varying air pressure in the ear canal and measuring the eardrum's response to these changes. A probe is inserted into the ear, forming a seal, while the device emits a tone and adjusts the air pressure. The tympanometer records how much sound is reflected back from the eardrum, calculating its compliance and the middle ear pressure. The results are displayed on a tympanogram, which helps diagnose conditions like fluid in the middle ear, Eustachian tube dysfunction, or eardrum perforations.
  • While tympanometers assess middle ear function, an Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) machine evaluates inner ear function by detecting sounds (otoacoustic emissions) produced by the outer hair cells in response to auditory stimuli. This helps identify sensorineural hearing loss.
